Denatl Implant News

The decision a patient makes to select a dentist is personal and complex.  This can be difficult today with insurance plans, economics, and the constant exposure to marketing efforts.  Sometimes the choice is clear.  As a practicing dentist for twenty-one years we are not new to the dental implant market.  We have been placing and restoring dental implants for almost twenty years.  Along the way there have been plenty of advances and we have stayed abreast of this with a strong commitment to continuing education.  Our in house lab has been helping create beautiful smiles with the same technician since the beginning of our practice.  With our new on-premise CT scan the complete dental implant experience is provided in one location.  You can be assured of quality care in one location by professionals dedicated to providing outstanding dental implant care.

In Office CT Scan

In our drive to provide the best dental care and utilize the latest of cutting edge dental technology we have installed A Kodak 9000 3D dental cat scan.  This new diagnostic tool not only provides some of the finest panoramic radiographs in the business it also provides the three dimensional  views needed for implant dentistry that was once limited to hospital based units.   Prior to acquiring this unit dental implant patients would be required to get a CT scan at a hospital or imaging center.  That is history and can take place in minutes right in our office.  The cost and time savings to the patient are tremendous.  The diagnostic information provided to the doctor is invaluable in dental implant treatment.   The images are anatomically accurate three dimensional views, achieved with limited low dose radiation exposure as the format is digital. This can be 10-30 times less exposure than some competing systems.  This new technology will improve treatment outcomes for dental implant patients, third molar extractions and even root canal patients.  The three dimensional reconstruction provides reassuring and exact 1:1 scale.  This "true to life" view of dental structures unquestionably facilitates better treatment outcomes.  The software enables us to simulate exact implant placement prior to surgery.  This coupled with our in house dental laboratory for the fabrication of surgical guides provides the patient and doctor with a true computer guided dental implant surgery.

President Illinois Dental Society of Anesthesiology

After practicing dental anesthesia for 15 plus years and being active in the local , state , and national dental anesthesiology organizations I am proud to announce that I have been elected President for 2009 of the Illinois Dental Society of Anesthesiology This is a great honor bestowed on me by my colleagues and I hope to have a successful term.  This comes after spending a year as Vice- President and a year as Secretary of the state society.  My initial task at hand is to organize our annual meeting in November 2009.  Plans are currently in place to have Dr. Robert Bosak, a practicing oral surgeon in the Chicago suburbs to be our speaker for an interactive review of dental anesthesia.

Mini- Implants

Mini Implants are a solution for denture patients. There are approximately 50,000,000 people in the United States who are lacking teeth and struggle daily with dentures. A majority suffer a great deal of discomfort as a result of loose or ill-fitting dentures. Many denture wearers simply withdraw from any type of social engagement as a result of being compelled to wear them.  Successful placement of mini dental implant’s address and solve all of these social and practical problems. Many denture patients in our office have experienced relief from loose or ill-fitting dentures with the use of mini implants. They can be utilized to stablilize a denture in about an hour with the patient leaving the office more confident and better able to chew properly.

Full Arch Rehabilitation with the All -on-4 technique

     Many patients are living longer and do not find complete removable dentures acceptable.   The demand for dental implants is rising and is now considered the standard of care.  Complete rehabilitation of the upper and lower jaw can be costly and time consuming.   A new technique that has been common in Europe for many years is now becoming popular in the United States.
     The technique is called the "All-on-4" because it utilizes only four implants per arch for an immediate complete full arch screw retained prosthesis.   It can be used in the upper jaw, allowing you to avoid sinus grafting or in the lower jaw, to avoid the nerve.  The prosthetic teeth can be completed the same day as surgery or the next day to accommodate lab time.
     The advantages are:
   * Avoidance of sinus grafting
   * Immediate placement of teeth
   * Less surgeries
   * More affordable
